Recently I was working on some brand new garter designs. Some of them were for the Punkrock at heart. I just love my job :) I get to do so many fun and uniquely different things. Not the same old style over and over again. Something new every time I sit down to my sewing machine. Skulls have been such a fashion item for the past "I don't know how many" years. I have been creating them since way back in 2004 or earlier. tell you the truth I don't remember when I first started. It was a chance that I took. Before everyone was wearing skulls and pink camo, I saw some funky patterns and decided to pick them up and make some designs using them. I found that they were welcomed with open arms. One would think that a skull garter would be kind of ugly - but I beg to differ. The skull garters I have created are all beautiful. I can find and bring out the beauty in just about anything. (now I say "just about" because something just can't be made pretty) But As far as I have done - just about everything I have ever been commissioned to create has been worked into a beautiful creation.
Take this blue skull garter. I created it for @
plannerpatricia Who I "met" from twitter. She is a wedding planner and was interested in showing off some unique wedding garters at her latest bridal show. I shot about a dozen garters in her direction and one of them happened to be this blue skull garter. I hear it was of interest to some of her brides. It's not a surprise to me though. :)
Below are a few other samples of the skull garters that lots of brides love. Small simple bands with dainty bows or sometimes with ruffles. Whatever they want, they can get.
This one has a three letter monogram professionally embroidered right on the front with a dozen Swrovski crystals sewn around the sheer ruffle. a touch of purple in the monogram and 6 of the crystals, make a beautiful accent.
A satin ruffle garter is a great touch as well. No lace just two shades of satin. Any color that you would want and then a skull decoration in the front. Not around the entire band, just one skull for an accent.
And the skull can even be decorated with a small bow as well. See the garter below. I wanted to make it match to the custom designed ring pillow that I created. So I added on a small pink satin bow to the skulls head. It made the garter and pillow set complete.
