A New Direction after Something Old

After years and years of creating wedding garter designs I have come to a place in my life where I want more...  More than just garters.  More than just stylish little leg bands.  More than just a something blue...

I'm moving in the direction of more ART, Going back to my roots and making a difference in my personal life.

I can remember all the way back to the times of my first memories...

Must have been 3 or 4 years old.   I wanted to be an artist when I grew up.   All through my childhood my love and focus WAS on art.   I was a member of the National Art Honor Society while in High School and moved on to graduate and  then attend College for Advertising Art and Design.

It was at this point in my life that I started to dislike art for the first time.   It wasn't one particular thing but the whole college experience that turned me off to art.  The way they taught the things we studied.. It all just destroyed my love of art and turned off my desire to be an artist.

Later in the 1990's I dabbled in drawing a bit and started to find a small spark of interest but after having children I didn't seem to have the time to fan that spark into a flame.   But in 2000 My neice was married.   I had the privilege to create her wedding accessories.   Including the flower basket, Ring pillow and Satin upholstered Mailbox for her cards.
Every person who saw these creations insisted I should go into business.  So in 2001 I took the plunge... 9 years ago I went on down to Town Hall and applied for my  business license, and it became official, I was in business.

This was a new frontier, at that time there were no custom wedding specialists to speak of.  Brides didn't even think it was possible to do something so unique as what I was offering.  Those were the "good ol' days" but over time just like all good ideas never stay quietly hidden... the idea of having custom made and themed garters and accessories became the "In thing"  Before you know it,  the expolsion of "custom wedding this" and "custom wedding that" became the trend and fad of the decade.   I'm so very glad I was able to be a leading artist in this trend.

WELL... It's time for a new frontier for me.  Creating wedding garters is a great thing to do for my wonderful clients.
However, working on a more artistic level is calling to me as well.   My love of Art and the excitement it used to bring to me is returning.  After all these YEARS - Decades I should say,  the flame is flickering and just waiting to be fanned. And it will be! I'll be working more on various Hand-Crafted piecies of art which include Painting, Sketching, Scratching, and Sewing.

Along with this new direction in my Creative Endevors  I will be creating some new weekly bloggings that I  hope will help me share various aspects of my work and myself with you all.

These weekly bloggings will include things based on the following:

Monday -   Memory Lane Monday
Tuesday -  Twitter Friend Tuesday
Wednesday - Wedding Wednesday
Thursday - Themed Thursday
Friday  -  Freebie Friday
Saturday - Simple N' Stylish Saturday
Sunday -  Spiritual Sunday

Now since today is Sunday - I'll be kicking off this first day of this new week with some words of wisdom.

I don't ever want to be a fool,  I always want to love Wisdom and Discipline - it leads me to Knowlege - YOU should too.

Proverbs 1 : 1-7
The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight;  for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair;  for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young- let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance- for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Happy Sunday everyone!  "Today is the Day the Lord has made... Let us rejoice and be glad in it!"
