Trip Down Memory Lane ... I remember our ugly cake.

It's Memory Lane Monday again... Time for me to take a little trip.

I remember back to the planning of our wedding.  It was a whirlwind of a trip.  We lived in California and were getting married in NY.  So I wasn't there to make any arangements.  I wasn't a bridzilla so having family help out was perfectly fine.  

I told them I really didn't care what the cake was like other than I wanted it to be tiered and to have chocolate creme in the center  (MUST HAVE CHOCOLATE)  The cake ended up looking the a typical cake of the day (1993-ish time period)  It was an ugly cake by today's standards!!  LOL But to me and my huber it was great and the special part was my handmade topper.  I created it myself from green and pink lace and a styrofoam heart painted with pink and glitter.   Then  glued the Teddy bear groom/bride figurine on top.  Which was one of my faves!!  I use to be the ultra teddybear collector back in the day. 

Going back down memory lane... brings me to the time of cutting the cake.  I was so scared that hubby would put it in my face.  He was a little sneaky pete so I didn't know what could be up his sleve. 

I just remember looking at him thinking - Oh he better not!!   Well I was ready "Just in case"  And so the time came to the bride and groom to feed each other and I was ready to get him.  He was teasing me with the fork - as you can see some of the cake was falling off in the photo below.   That little devil was making me think I was gonna wear it!! Which I really did NOT want to. 

Then it was my turn and I was very nice to him since he was nice to me.  But of COURSE everyone around had to say something to egg him on and he took a finger full and popped on my cheek..Well that wasn't too bad so I went to do the same back to him... only thing is he turned his head and the blop of cream went into his ear.  LOL 

All in all it worked out though! 

Thank goodness neither of us ended up wearing and cake.  That was on the BOTTOM of my todo list.  :)  After everything was said and done we got married, and had our cake and ate it too.  (no matter how ugly it was  LOL )
